October 31st 2011 - This is a quick review of the results of the club meeting held yesterday evening. The club prize night is still Friday 18th November but we are having some problems booking the venue. (Cannot get an answer to our booking!) As a results we're looking at alternatives so we have options in the future. --NEXT--, Thanks to Charlie we are now an 'on-target' club. A bit like the 'Clubmark' scheme but the invention of ArcheryGB. The logo will now appear on out web site heading, (when I do it) --NEXT-- DNAA will be required to host the NCAS shoots this year. Our club is often expected to host some of these shoots but due to the timing (footy season) we are limited in what we can offer, as a result we may offer only the hosting of the 5 counties senior shoot. The junior shoot would clash with the footy. --NEXT-- Membership. We have 64 paid up members. A little lower than last year but many clubs appear to be having member retention problems. The current beginner's course ends this coming week and the next course runs from 25th January until 29th February. At the AGM it was mentioned that new members coming from a beginners course were not receiving the help that both the club and new member needed. As a result we will be limited to two courses over the winter and this will allow some time to be given to 'bed in' new members will help before the club coaches have to manage the next course. --NEXT-- Kath has prepared a 'round rota' for the winter with practice time planned for all rounds that we may be expected to shoot. I will enter this onto the google calendar when Kath has a copy available. --NEXT, and finally--, We need letter headed paper and we will be looking at getting paper printed with all club logos. We also happen to be running the club indoor open this coming week-end. Expect some activity at Churchill early on Saturday as we move competition equipment to the school and later set up the hall for shooting. Our next meeting will be on December 5th. I will archive the October news after 7 days.
October 30th 2011 - PB's from Kath from Saturday:
29.10.11 Connor Rathbone (barebow) 455, Paul Cook 494. (Portsmouth), Bray 1 Julie Bews 194 (Bray).
October 26th 2011 - More PB's from Kath. Also I need to mention that the 'challenge' badges that we normally present for the 500, 700, 100 and 1066 challenge have been totally redesigned but we (me) are a little behind in producing the latest ones for presentation. I hope to have these all ready for the forthcoming prize night? But now to the P.B.'s:
25.10.11 Matthew Foreman 173.
22.10.11 Mark Robertson (compound) 572.
18.10.11 Julie Bews 500, Alan Bews 563, Mark Robertson (barebow) 508.
11.10.11 Niamh Bews 373.
October 18th 2011 - Some club stuff for you, all from Kath - only PB's up to and including 8 Oct at the moment, haven't had a chance to put the finishing touches to the outdoor
records yet. All are Portsmouth, Recurve, unless stated otherwise.
8.10.11 Aaron Graham 323, Gordon Dunk 533, Kate Ritchie 227, Daniel Ritchie 231.
4.10.11 Niamh Bews 356.
1.10.11 Mark Robertson 580, Julie Bews 497.
27.9.11 Julie Bews 458.
20.9.11 Aaron Graham 283, Mark Robertson 573, Julie Bews 431.
October 5th 2011 - The club committee met on Monday and covered the things that were pending over AGM time. James has produced a booklet aimed at new members and tries to answer many of the questions that a new member has. A PDF copy will become available to the site once completed. Some of the club competitions for the Winter County Leagues were programmed and dates agreed, as was the date of the Prize Night. Charlie asked if the calendar could be included in the 'facebook' page. It can't really and many of us are not facebook members, however, I have changed the home page to include our own calendar and I have linked this to the county calendar. You should have the best of both worlds although I need to know if any changes are planned otherwise the calendar will be inaccurate. I have planned dates only into November to see how the new calendar works out? Next years club outdoor open has been set as a Saint George / Albion set and the date will be August 12th 2012.
October 2nd 2011 - These PB's are just as I remembered them (or mis-remembered if incorrect). Julie Bews PB'd then PB'd then on Saturday PB's for the third time in little over 1 week. PB now 497. Now here it's a case of memory as I thought 7 and 3. It was either 497 and 3 short of the 500 OR 493 and 7 short of 500........ but I think it's 497 scored. Next Mark Robertson scored 580 and I think this is about 8 or 9 up on the previous PB. Next chance to shoot well is Tuesday evening! I should move the 'news' details to archive now but I'll leave it in place for a few days for those who don't visit the site that often. For committee members it's a committee meeting on Monday!
