News Archive November 2009.

November 29th 2009 - P.B's from Saturday at Churchill School were from Connor Rathbone with a 'barebow' 454 and from Phil Parker with a recurve 490. Both 'Portsmouth' round scores.

November 27nd 2009 - Ann would like to suggest that for the Christmas / Festive Saturday shoot (with Buffet!) as well as your customary 'hat' you may like to consider full fancy dress? I leave you all to discuss this phenomina.

November 22nd 2009 - 'latest' PBs as follows:
14.11.09 - Luke Fittes - 302 Longbow,
21.11.09 - Ged Toman - 528, Alan Bell = 549, Richard Marsden - 543.

November 16th 2009 - Last session at Percy Hedley before Christmas will be Tuesday 15 December, restart on Tuesday 5 January. And for the Frostbite PBs from yesterday (Sunday)
Allan Bews - 305, Margaret Fittes(I think) - 279
Mark Robertson - 269, Richard Marsden - 251
and Phill Parker - 217, and I believe the remainder of the 'buffet' met it's end!

November 15th 2009 - Last night (Saturday) was the day for the 'autumn' Presentation evening and it was excellent to see so many there. A lovely buffet was provided by Alan and partner which was devoured by all and the evening passed so quickly not everything that was planned was needed. Thanks to all those who turned out on the night! This coming week we appear to have a delay in the current beginners course due to 'exam' time at Burnside. At worst the delay will be two weeks. Sorry about that but it is beyond the control of the club. See you on Tuesday?

November 11th 2009 - Latest change to the web site today is the new Indoor Handicap list (viewed from the 'records' page) then a reminder that Saturday is the Autumn 'Prize' night that covers all the outdoor shoots held over the summer, plus records gained. You're welcome to come even if you didn't get a ticket but the ticket idea was to make sure we neither over ordered or under ordered a buffet for those expected. A bar is provided by the KYPC. (Boys club to some of us...... (old habits die hard!)

November 5th 2009 - The results from our club open (last Sunday) have been posted on the county web site as it can be visited by more people. We finish at Churchill on Saturday 19 December which will be our "Festive" shoot. We start back again on Sat 9 January. I haven't found out about Percy Hedley yet (says Kath).
More PBs - all Portsmouth unless indicated.
27.10.09 - Mark Robertson - 547
31.10.09 - No score sheets yet
1.11.09 - Mark Robertson - 552
3.11.09 - Keith Brotherton - 530. Daniel Gibson - 452 (Vegas). Alan Bell - 482 (18m FITA). Mark Robertson - 475 (18m FITA)

November 3rd 2009 - The latest club committee meeting resulted in the following news:- The dates for the compound league for November and December were arranged for Tuesday evenings at the 'Wooden Spoon' venue in Killingworth. For your interest we won BOTH our longbow and Compound matches for October in the DNAA league! The 'festive' shoot we hold just before Christmas hasn't got a date yet but that will be arranged once we can contact Churchill School. As in other years, instead of exchanging Christmas cards within the club, we will have a 'charity' box for donations to go to charitable cause. Normally we would hold a 'draw' for the charity to receive the total donated but this year it's been decided to pass it to Mary who is off to Africa in the New Year on a three week innoculation trip. (That's Mary innoculating others and not vice versa which would then be a little unusual.......!) Maybe we can have some photos in return for our web site? That's a hint Mary!!

The beginners course weeks 5 and 6 have been delayed due to exam re-sits at Burnside so we will attempt to find an alternative 'wednesday' venue for the same dates, but if not, then will carry on once the exams are over. Just keep an eye on the 'diary' on our home page. After making an attempt to 'catch up' with beginners we're now back to 21 names waiting for courses but the next course cannot now begin until after the year end festivites.

To end, the next meeting is to be held on 30th November. I've archived the 'October' news but here was my last entry from October:

October 28th 2009 - Remember that this week-end is the date for our club 'open' at Churchill. Setting up for the Sunday competition will be after the Saturday 'club' day. And now... the latest PB's:
