News Archive April 2010.

April 26th 2010 - Club Indoor presentation evening will be Saturday 22 May in the pavilion (buffet and bar) and we hope to make it 'free' to members.... just like last time! Cost, probably £2.50 per person for 'guests'. Why? Because we have to pay for a license this time to add to the other expenses for the night. Tickets available from Saturday from Edna, Mary and Kath (so we can judge the numbers expected).

April 26th 2010 - Mary's first journal entry on the visit to Nigeria. This is the 'work' journal. I'm making up a 'play' journal but that's no-where near complete yet!

April 25th 2010 - 6a.m. on Sunday and possibly the start of the hottest day this year so I'm making a start by updating the site. So what's new? Much of what I have to report is invisible to most of the members, as some of us have tried to catch up with maintenance jobs. Terry (Astley) has been to our storage unit at North Shields as we uncovered a little damage to our container down there that was letting in water over the winter. Terry's done a great job in repairing the roof and is currently re-painting the only side that was once wall facing. As we store all the 'competition' equipment here it really needs to be dry! Then at the field we spent most of Saturday morning to lunchtime marking the lines and measuring the field ready for the outdoor season. This was an impromtu arrangement as the weather looked good for the week-end. So for those who may have been willing to help, sorry it was just a 'spur-of-the-moment' idea. We still have the 'target centres' to do but these can be done at any time?

The down side is the 'little Darlings' have tried to set fire to the container again. This is an irregular event that happens when a new hatch of pubescents pass through this stage of maturity. So I suppose it's another day of scraping, priming and painting ahead? Now for an important issue as the previous topics are 'gossip'. The 'winter' prize night was planned for 23rd but we could get no answer to our request for a booking... until too late. SO! it's now planned to hold it on the evening of Saturday 22nd May in the 'pavillion' at the Outdoor venue. This is a little late for this social evening but you know the reason? FINALLY! You may know that Helen (small-coach of this esteemed club) is due to cycle the 'coast-to-coast' over the Spring May bank-holiday? Well she's doing it for 'tiny-lives' charity and she 'aint no cyclist! If you can find it to support her with a little sponsor amount I know she would appreciate it. See her on Tuesday at the club but don't say where you heard it? Good shooting, enjoy the weather!

April 21st 2010 - Now another apology as Kath has put the score sheets from last week somewhere 'safe', so safe we can't find them! However I'm sure Maureen got 454 (and I'm told bettered some previous Novice records outdoors last week-end) AND Sam got 362 last week and a better 365 this Tuesday. To end Ian Adamson got a 443 PB this week (with his new bow). All recurve by the way. Well done everyone.

April 14th 2010 - One chance at glory and I mess up. Maureen's PB wasn't 464 as quoted by me but 446.... however on Tuesday is was smashed above 450 and it's true value will be posted when the PB's from the night come to me later. As tonight was 'shopping night' my web efforts are slightly curtailed. Now the Spring Prize Night. I placed it into the 'diary' thinking that we would have the venue confirmed by now but this hasn't happened. So at the present we are in limbo. It is highly unlikely that we can organise it at this late date so keep your eyes on the 'diary' for a revised date. I will also load the Indoor Club records within a day or two from now........ (Thursday, and here they are!) Just look in the usual place and see the latest tables.

April 8th 2010 - Inserted tonight is a link to the 'Patterdale Shoot' later this month. (on the 'home' page.) Also click on this link to read the Spring newsletter although you should also have received one by post? Newsletter. March news now archived.
