Posted 15th May 2009. The 'winter' season presentation evening was held on Wednesday as advertised and the awards for the two indoor shoots PLUS the 'George McGowan' indoor triple, were given out. Once we add the awards for the juniors (AAS substitute and Indoor Challenge) plus the new club records gained over the winter, we had quite a selection of awards given out. Congratulations to all those who won although some couldn't manage to be there on the night. Unfortunately the car park was packed solid so a few of us parked well down the main road. Good for a brisk walk at the end of the evening! This coming Saturday the club will hold it's 'Club Championships'. A modest round that everyone should be able to manage. For those who may think that it isn't for them I would suggest you give it a try. The club do attempt to set the shoots at a level which allows participation from any member. All I wish is that we stay dry and if it could be warm also, that would be a bonus! Posted 10th May 2009. Although it appears that I've neglected the web site for a while, it's only down to the other jobs I do! However, the last club meeting was held on April 27th 2009. The club 'Presentation' night has now been moved to May 13th and will be at the 'Blue Flames' club on Whitley Road, Wallsend. What USED to be the British Gas club for those who remember older days? Althought the night at Tynemouth Cricket Club was excellent, they no longer provide 'buffet' service and a 'buffet' will be provided at the 'Blue Flames'. I hope to see as many of you as possible as we have a selection of awards and certificates won over the long winter season
The last meeting was to primarily discuss the outdoor season and beginners courses. The next beginners course should start on June 17th and SHOULD be 4 weeks indoors and 2 weeks outdoors. I say 'SHOULD' be as the weather may have something to say on the subject. Over the winter we held an 'Indoor Triple' handicap shoot in memory of George McGowan. An outdoor version will be run, again rewarded on handicap, and will consist of: Remember 'Zoe' who shoots compound and graced Tuesday nights at the 'Wooden Spoon' with us over the winter? We are delighted to say that Zoe is away to Utah to represent the UK. I cannot remember if is in late May or June but I'm sure we all wish Zoe well? Once-upon-a-time there used to be an award for juniors called the "Archery Association for Schools" award. You can see details of it on this web site.... somewhere. Can't remember which page for the moment. Well the scheme has shut down, unfortunately, BUT the club comittee wish to keep it going so have had a badge embroidered plus a certificate produced which will replace the original scheme. Not discussed at the meeting, but relevant. The wednesday's at Burnside for 'equipment', novices and juniors has had such a poor response that the sessions have now been cancelled for the summer. And to end, the next meeting is to be held on June 1st. |
