Beginners Courses 2008/2009.
We will be holding three courses over the winter at Burnside school, and one summer course held at 'Longmeadows'. Each course will support ten beginners. Between the indoor courses we will hold a junior and novice night at Burnside.

The summer courses will be held on July 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th and will be from 1pm until 4pm each Saturday. the winter courses will have a six week duration rather than the five week course which had been held recently.

The club clout conflicts with the head-to-head to be held at Walker but it has been decided that, as the clout has been re-arranged once already, club members can decide which shoot to attend (if either).

The club has donated some 122cm target faces, old arrows and a few obsolete club bows to British Wheelchair sports Association as we have them and BWSA would benefit from having them.

The cost of 'Percy Hedley' will rise to £60 per session from Autumn 2008. This equates to a ten percent rise but the club will retain the three hour session we have booked.

The Presidents' handicap shoot organisation is to be delayed until next year as we have been unable to find a suitable method of presenting this award and the summer is passing too quickly!

We were to organise a 'work night' for Wednesday 11th June but as this has passed it only remins to tell everyone that the container has now been cleaned out and the old bosses are in the process of being removed. Please remember that we have more than enough old 122cm target faces so please change these if they become so damaged to be worthless.

Finally, future dates: Next meeting - July 7th, Cheese and Wine - 12th July, Club Barby - 9th August, club A.G.M. - 16th september, and on the first committee meeting after the A.G.M. ALL dates for next year will be arranged. All meetings, all club competitions and anything I cannot remember from the meeting!

Although it may not appear so, we've been busy in the previous two weeks. Did you see the article in the 'Evening Chronicle' about the club mark presentation? Mmmmm? No, well we were there as the first Archery club in Northern Counties to achieve that status. What does it do for us? As this is a 'Sport England' award it lists this club as a club which has proved that it has all the criteria in place to offer juniors a safe haven in the sport. For seniors.... you're too old! (if I may be so blunt?)

ALL the records are now updated so if you think I've still blundered then first see Kath who will probably, in turn, tell me off! If I have made a mistake it isn't personal but after a while the fugures all dance before the eyes and it's easy to swap two columns. However I do try to be correct!

You will notice I've flushed 'May' to the archive folder?

This week-end (7th and 8th) much of the club went off to Penrith for the two days of clout extravaganza! I'll find out what happened after the club committee meeting on Monday 9th so visit again shortly.
The remainder of us turned up at the field on a beautiful day and got to shooting, eventually, but then again not all of us! Just when I had placed my bottom on a seat and started putting my bow together what happened...... the thread went on my important bit! Now I know I've a spare somewhere but I've 'loaned' equipment to so many beginners over the years to 'try' before purchase, that most of it is gathering dust in someone's garage, never to be seen again. I did find 'something' that will do but...... well it was my favourite wot bust! Anyway I ended up doing the metric lines on the field so the day wasn't wasted.
