Sadly, 'Rod Smith' died early on Sunday morning just before Christmas, after an illness which came on suddenly the previous week-end. For those who MAY be interested, the funeral arrangements are: Friday 2 January 2009 at 12 noon at Saltwell Crematorium, Saltwell Road South, Gateshead, NE9 6DT. No flowers please, but donations in lieu to the 'Firefighters Charity'. The Club will be sending a donation, probably afterwards, if any members want to contribute through the club donation, please contact Charlie or any committee member.
CHRISTMAS closures are as follows: Churchill School - closed until January 10th! 'Wooden Spoon' closed until NEXT Tuesday (January 6th.)

Is it really a whole month since I waffled on? Just cannot believe it at all.
What's happened? Well almost every week we have posted 'Personal Bests' from some club member. Not to be sniffed at as the better you get the harder it becomes! Mary broke (subject to ratification) a National record for the Bray held at Green Lane, and tons of other good things! Congratulations to you all and forgive missing out names but you can see all those on the 'Personal Bests' page.

We held the 'festive' shoot on Saturday 13th December and this year it was brilliantly supported. The 'Christmas Card' money totalled a little over £160 and the draw for the charity returned the 'Celiac Society' as this years recipient. This was the choice of Isabell and Bill. Who won the shoot though? DUNNO! Each year I shoot barebow once only, fill myself with mince pies, and then wait for some lucky group to be announced as winners. THIS year I was wrestling with the targets and stands in the 'cupboard' while all the kit from the dancing club fell about my ears! Margaret produced two wonderful new targets to suppliment the collection but I took no photos so I cannot post images of them. One was 'O Christmas Tree'. (Margaret wasn't happy at it's intrinsic artistic quality but it looked perfect to me!) Thank you Margaret.

As you should know, Churchill School is now closed until January 10th 2009 and The 'Wooden Spoon' will be available on Tuesday 16th but then closes until January 6th 2009. It's quite a while without archery but cannot be helped?

ANYWAY! If I don't manage to write any more drivel please have a good Christmas. Don't eat too much and remember "It's Connor's Birthday on 22nd!" OH! and 'happy Birthday' to Ann who wore her 'Higher-Doon' Swedish flag at the festive shoot! Don't worry if this sounds madness, I'll see if any pictures are available and you'll be able to judge for yourself. A Merry Christmas to everyone.
